Thanks a lot for sharing so many incredible things during the whole year!
GORGEOUS!! I saw these earlier today and fell in love - now I just have to make some :) :)
ReplyDeleteOh sorry - one question, are they "hollow", or did you fill them?
ReplyDeleteRead instructions starting with abbreviations. They have to be filled.
DeleteSo adorable! I may have to bookmark this for next year's handmade ornament gifty for my friends!
ReplyDeleteDon't these look like a fun bauble to make!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this Kate... so kind of you to share it with us all.. I shall make a few as soon as possible :)x
ReplyDeleteHi Kate, What yarn and what size hook do you use? Apologies if it is in the instructions somewhere, but I don't see it :). I assume using a different yarn/hook will give you a different shaped bauble, and I want mine to be as round as yours! I am not so experienced that I can improvise yet.. maybe one day
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tutorial, can't wait to get started
X

ReplyDeletethese are so beautiful Kate and look so precious in the box. Next year I am going to try these, I wanted to make some with the little topper but wasn't sure how to do it. And love your gold thread-where did you find it? Is it yarn or embroidery thread? Merry Christmas Kate!
ReplyDeleteThese are really lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteSo lovely handwork you have done, Love that it is a little gold on the top of the baubles!!

Hi, I was wondering if it would be alright with you if I made some of these to sell? I'm planning to start a little shop on Etsy to sell some crocheted items and I was hoping to include these. I would give you full credit for the pattern of course and also include a link to it. Or whatever you'd prefer. Please let me know what you think! These little baubles are adorable and so clever :)
ReplyDeleteRound 6/7 - I didn't come up with the same number of stitches. I do one single crochet, move to the next stitch, do 2 sc, and then do 3 in the next one? Repeat? I got tons more than 30. What did I do wrong?
ReplyDeletethanks!
vespalover- I think I can help you out. Do one single crochet in each of the next three stitches then two single crochets in the next stitch then repeat the same again. Hope I have clarified this for you. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteimalefty
Can you please tell me what thread you used for the toggle??
ReplyDeleteThank You!!
I love this pattern! Hopefully I can get a few made in time for Christmas this year. Thank you for sharing!

ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteJust started these this afternoon. This pattern is great thank you so much. I was just planning to crochet stars and hearts and some snowflakes for the tree as I've got tonnes of bits of wool that I've been hoarding. Baubles are just amazing though. I can't wait to have them on tree :) thanks again.
Re xxx
These are awesome. I am going to try this. :)

ReplyDeleteVery adorable tree baubles! I'm having dificulty locating the thread/floss/yarn that you have used in the toggle. Could you please list the brand name and any other info regarding it, as well as the hook size you used for it. I was planning on making sets of these this year as gifts for family and friends & realy don't want to use plain yellow yarn in replace of the metallic.
ReplyDeleteBelíssimo trabalho!
ReplyDeleteA você e a sua família, um Feliz Natal e um Prospero Ano Novo! Bjs
I am unfirtunately too late this year to crochet those marvellous Christams baubles but I will try them next year for sure!!!Merry Christmas to you :)
ReplyDeleteJust wondering what "glitter yarn" you used for the toggle... the pattern doesn't say. I'm assuming an embroidery yarn of some kind would work.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet these are! I found this pattern at AllFreeCrochet.com. I am making some to give with my gifts this year.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this!
Ciao, ho trovato il tuo blog per caso,mi è piaciuto così tanto che sono subito diventata tua follower...
ReplyDeleteTrovo questo lavoro per Natale molto interessante...

ReplyDeleteLove these - such a classic look! I featured your pattern this morning on Moogly: http://www.mooglyblog.com/free-crochet-ornaments/ Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteIs the number in brackets a number of stitches or a number of repeats?
ReplyDeleteJust made 8 baubles yesterday in different colours, I just couldn`t stop:)
ReplyDeleteIt`s quite early for Christmas, I wonder how they will look like on the tree.
Now I am just thinking they would look better striped, think I will try it.
Thank you for this tutorial. Which wool to you use for the top?
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tutorial. A great idea for Xmas gift and use up scrap yarns :-) May I know which kind of yarn (color, size?) you used for the top. TIA.
~Ollyvia
Hi Ollyvia - refer to the comment to the question below. I hope that helps. Love Kate. x
DeleteI was wondering also what type of gold thread you used for the toggle? I would love to learn how to make these as gifts for my fellow coworkers in Oklahoma City. I am a beginner, have crocheted a couple of easy afghans in the past. Am a widow now and would like to find things to fill my evenings. I do still work outside my home.
ReplyDeleteHi there - I use Twilley's Goldfingering in Gold! It also comes in other metallic colours too. I hope you can find it where you are, otherwise it is availavle online. Love Kate. x
DeleteCould anyone tell me: after the first round, do you NOT slip stitch to complete each row? I did a trial with this pattern and found I was ending up with more stitches than expected per row. Also, I used regular yarn, and was concerned the baubles were going to end up quite large. I'd appreciate others' comments. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi there - you only ss at the end of the first round and then not again after. I use dk yarn and a 3.5mm crochet hook. I wrote this pattern a few years ago and forgot to put in useful bits like materials so I will remedy it later on today. Love Kate. x
DeleteThank you, Kate. I did get some cotton "yarn" and made a bauble, and the size came out more reasonable. In terms of adding useful bits to the posting, I would suggest encouraging the use of stitch markers---it made counting rows, and keeping track of each row's beginning stitch easier for me.
DeleteThanks for this great pattern. I am currently kntting loads of baubles to yarn bomb our local railway station
ReplyDeleteOh I can't wait to start some! I read thru the pattern and have 1 question -- Round 16 says to "repeat round 16". Should it be "repeat round 15"?
ReplyDeleteNicely picked up - I'll change it later today thank you!!!! Love Kate. x
DeleteI love it! Is this pattern in UK terms?
ReplyDeleteHi Valerie - it's in US terms. Love Kate. x
DeleteWhat a great idea! I will have to tell all my friends about this. Thank you for the great tut:)
ReplyDeleteLove this pattern and would like to make some for my granddaughter. Sorry for the ignorance, but what is dk cotton? Also if the conversion chart I have for crochet hooks is correct, I believe the 3.5 mm is a US 4 or E. I cannot find the conversion for the 2.5 mm. Can you help with the size I should use. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI love these, but have a question about the Toggle -- shouldn't the pattern state using the 4-ply & 2.5mm hook instead of DK & 3.5? So far just doing the balls until I am sure of the toggle and manage to obtain the 4-ply you indicated in the materials list.
ReplyDeleteThanks much I love these and on my fifth already, hoping to store them in a nice box, could I ask where you bought yours from please? X
ReplyDeleteDo you happen to know what the diameter or circumference or dimensions are of these baubles?
ReplyDeleteHello I am making some of these they look great. I am a bit confused about the toggle though. The start of the pattern suggests dk cotton and 4ply gold which I thought would be for the toggle. The instruction for the toggle says to use dk and 3.5mm hook. Where does the gold 4ply come in? I have probably missed it somewhere. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Kate
ReplyDeleteI love the pattern, going to make some for my tree.
I was wondering if I could have your permission to sell finished ones. I would credit you for the pattern. Thank you
Hey Kate
ReplyDeleteI love your pattern :)
May I translate it into Danish?
Of course, with reference and source for you :)
best regards Alice
You have even figured out how to make it reasonable and straightforward to peruse. You have some authentic work ability. Much thankful to you.
